All I Want For Christmas...

All I want for Christmas is....

Hope for my child.
I don’t dream of her walking.
I don’t wish that she could climb a tree.
Those things are lovely, but we could manage life in a powerchair...
and I know my little fighter would rise to the challenge with a smile.
No, my wildest dreams are simple.
I wish my daughter could breathe.
I wish she could swallow.
I wish she could grow up...survive.
I wish the world knew about SMA
because I know if they knew the sweet babies it takes,
the smart children it cripples,
the future it snuffs out so prematurely --
if people knew about SMA
I know they would push for a cure.
I know they would donate to research.
I know they would sign the petition.
I know they would scream from the mountain tops:
"SMA is KILLING our children!!!"
A cure is so close.
Research is so promising.
I just hope it is in time for my baby.

I found your link on facebook and am amazed at the strides you're taking to end SMA. Keep up the fight! You are doing an incredible job for all the angels on earth, that are affected by this disease. A cure can and will be found. I wish you and your family a healthy Christmas. I think you are headed toward your dream. I know a little angel with SMA, and have felt so helpless till I found this link. I will keep voting and tell others to do so as well. MANY THANKS!!!!!!

I pray every day for a cure in time -- as do so many others who love and cherish Gwendolyn and all the other beautiful children with SMA. You and Bill are doing so much to make a cure come sooner, and to give inspiration and hope to others. Keep fighting because you're making such a difference and bringing so many people with you. Love Love Love xxx

Beautifully written, although something I too hope no other parents have to hope for in the very near future!! A cure is on all our Christmas lists this year and we will continue fighting, raising money and spreading the word about SMA as much as we can.
All the best to you, Bill and sweet Gwendolyn this holiday season!! Em
